Methodology

• Published Census trade series use official HS and Schedule B commodity codes for selected plant-protein ingredients, wheat gluten, and non-seed pulse trade rows.
• Some rows are broader proxy codes for protein substances; Protein Report keeps those limitations in the registered source metadata.
• Values are official U.S. trade values or quantity measures from Census International Trade data and are not seasonally adjusted.
• A blank Census response for a valid commodity/month is treated as no matching source record, not as a zero trade value.
