The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) is the international conference addressing key future issues in global agricultural and food policy. It takes place annually in Berlin, coinciding with the Green Week (GW). The GFFA is organized by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in cooperation with Messe Berlin GmbH. With numerous events, the five-day forum offers an international audience of experts from politics, business, science, and civil society the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss the issues and challenges of global agricultural policy and food security. High-ranking guests, such as António Guterres, Angela Merkel, Ban Ki-moon, and King Charles III, have enriched the GFFA with keynote speeches in recent years.
Theme of GFFA 2027: Resilient agriculture from the field to the world market
A resilient agricultural and food sector is key to ensuring a secure and sustainable food supply for the world's population. However, geopolitical crises, extreme weather events, volatile markets, and fragile supply chains pose ever greater challenges to the agricultural sector. Guaranteeing global food security in the long term requires innovative solutions, strong international partnerships, and decisive political action. Four key areas of action are central to this: securing means of production, strengthening open and diverse trade relations, promoting innovation and modern technologies, and strengthening food safety and animal and plant health. At the GFFA, we will discuss together how to strengthen the resilience of agricultural and food systems and pave the way for a future-proof, sustainable, and crisis-resistant agriculture.
