Balletic Foods is looking for an experienced Microbiologist to join our R&D team in a fast-paced start-up work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Genetically engineer microbes using high-throughput combinatorial approach
  • Optimization of strains through genomic engineering
  • Assay development for high-throughput screening methods
  • Work on maximizing strain performance and enabling process scale up
  • Work in a dynamic environment with changing and evolving specifications and requirements
  • Play a key role in building an exciting and successful start-up company

Requirements

  • PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology or a related field with prior industry experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience with strain optimization using HTP methods (engineering yeast a plus)
  • High proficiency with HTP DNA cloning methods and data interpretation
  • Ability to design and build genetic systems and are up-to-date with current techniques (CRISPR/Cas, type IIs, directed evolution, etc)
  • Understanding of bio-engineering-based production processes and KPI's
  • Experience with automation and robotics a plus
  • Bioinformatics skills a plus
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage challenging projects/workload
