Bayou Best Foods acquires BettaF!sh to build transatlantic plant-based seafood business

Bayou Best Foods, a U.S.-based maker of plant-based shrimp, has acquired Berlin-based BettaFish (Wunderfish GmbH), a seaweed-focused company known for its plant-based seafood products across European retail and foodservice channels. The deal brings together two women-led companies with complementary geographic footprints and product lines, positioning the combined entity to compete on both sides of the Atlantic.

• Bayou Best Foods' plant-based shrimp will be introduced to BettaFish's European foodservice partners in the near term, while BettaFish's plant-based tuna and salmon products will enter the U.S. market over time.
• BettaFish's flagship products, TU-NAH and SAL-NOM, are made from European seaweed and serve as alternatives to conventional fish.
• Bayou Best Foods distributes through major U.S. foodservice networks including Sysco, US Foods, and PFG.
• The combined company aims to leverage complementary strengths in ingredient innovation, product development, and commercialization.
