Loacker launches global startup call for its corporate venture fund

Italy's Loacker Group has opened an international call for agrifoodtech startups, moving its new corporate venture capital program into its operational phase. Run with the support of accelerator Eatable Adventures, the call seeks solutions in three areas: natural fat and sugar alternatives, new protein sources, and automation and robotics. Announced in September, the program is managed through the Loacker Investment Office with an annual budget of €1 million. Applications close on December 1, 2026.

• The portfolio already includes three startups: Dr. Taste, which develops a predictive platform for consumer response; Endless Food Co., which makes chocolate alternatives from food by-products; and Ferm Labs, which uses fermentation to develop clean-label flavor ingredients.
• The fat and sugar challenge targets naturally derived replacements that meet the group's clean-label standards without compromising taste or texture, while the protein challenge seeks new sources for wafers, chocolate specialties, and baked goods.
• At least 30 projects will be assessed in depth, with around 10 finalists eligible for direct investment, proofs of concept, industrial pilots, co-development, or commercial partnerships.
• The call is open to companies from pre-seed to Series A with validated or advanced technologies, industrial or strategic synergies with the group, and openness to a strategic investor.
