Swedish agricultural cooperative Lantmännen has launched NordPea, a pea protein isolate developed through a joint initiative with Ingredion. The ingredient will be manufactured at Lantmännen's new €100 million facility in Lidköping, in south-west Sweden, from peas grown by the cooperative's Swedish farmers. NordPea is intended for plant-based food applications, including dairy analogues, and will be officially launched at Food Ingredients Europe 2026 in Frankfurt.

“Pea protein is an increasingly popular choice for food and beverage manufacturers In Europe, and NordPea will help to satisfy this growing demand with a high-quality ingredient produced in a sustainable manner.”

—Fredrik Krook, managing director, biorefineries, Lantmännen

  • The plant has received support from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's climate investment program.
  • NordPea will be produced in a vertical supply chain, with peas grown under Lantmännen's agricultural and sustainability standards.
  • Lantmännen and Ingredion will give a joint presentation on pea protein at Food Ingredients Europe, held November 17-19, 2026.
  • Lantmännen is owned by 17,000 Swedish farmers, employs 12,000 people, and reports annual turnover of SEK 70 billion.
