Crespel & Deiters restructure puts refinement expert on course for continued global growth

Ibbenbüren (Germany), April 2026 – Crespel & Deiters is on course for further growth following a change in management at executive level. This has resulted in the group's leadership reorganising business divisions to highlight the company's evolution from wheat specialist to refinement expert for plant-based raw materials – all of which is underscored by a new strapline, logo and website.

With its new positioning as a refinement expert, the long-established family business is broadening its raw material portfolio and processing technologies to encompass additional application fields. A wide selection of plant-based raw materials combined with deep technological expertise enables the company to respond, to precise and individual customer requirements. The group's technological competence is becoming increasingly visible across industries, positioning the company as a strategic development partner for performance-oriented and sustainable solutions.

The motto ‘Nature. Refined. Since 1858’ puts the company's decades of expertise in the processing of renewable plant-based raw materials centre stage. Where Crespel & Deiters once focused exclusively on wheat-based raw materials and their refinement, today the group also processes other raw materials such as pea and fava bean. Using modern techniques including extrusion, blending, protein hydrolysis and modification, Crespel & Deiters delivers highly functional, global solutions for both the food and paper processing industries.

To further sharpen the group's profile, existing business divisions have been consolidated under the Crespel & Deiters brand. This includes the former Loryma, a producer of food ingredients whose well-established product names – such as those in the Lory® range – remain in place. Also integrated is the Corrugating & Paper division, offering solutions for the paper and corrugated board industry, while the name of the widely recognised Definol® range for high-performance adhesives remains unchanged.

"Our heritage obligates us, while our technology enables our future," says Philipp Deiters, executive management member and CSO for the Food Division. "Refinement also reflects our attitude – that is, to make something better with every solution for the customer, the market and a more sustainable industry. The Crespel & Deiters Group has now taken an important and deliberate step by placing our extensive expertise in the refinement of plant-based raw materials and our deep application knowledge firmly in the foreground. Knowing that quality and sustainability are gaining in importance across all industrial sectors, we anticipate strong growth. The sixth generation of our family business is well positioned and ready to write the next chapter of the Crespel & Deiters story."

New logo, new website

Alongside the new mission statement, Crespel & Deiters is also unveiling a modernised logo and refreshed visual identity – though the iconic "Three Hares" are retained in acknowledgement of the group's heritage. The new website, however, goes well beyond a new look and feel: in addition to showcasing technological excellence and the breadth of refinement technologies and raw materials used, it presents solutions across a range of different industries. Visitors to the site can see firsthand how the highly functional ingredients and solutions improve performance, enhance quality, conserve resources and thereby increase overall sustainability across numerous applications.

About Crespel & Deiters

Crespel & Deiters is a family-owned company operating in its sixth generation since 1858. The group specialises in the technological refinement of renewable plant-based raw materials into functional, high-performance solutions for a more sustainable industry.

The company combines long-standing experience with modern process expertise – including fractionation, extrusion, blending, modification and protein hydrolysis – delivering measurable advantages for its customers: higher performance, greater efficiency and more resource-efficient processes.

Crespel & Deiters employs approximately 450 people in total. At its headquarters in Ibbenbüren, the company produces wheat starch and wheat proteins, processing these through starch modification into functional products and application-specific solutions for the food industry, as well as into high-performance adhesives for the paper processing industry. The Helmond site is a pioneer in food extrusion and a key part of the value chain, where proteins from various raw materials are refined into innovative textures for food production. A technical centre with a laboratory extruder and four modern production lines enables the scale-up of innovations. The technical center in Zwingenberg develops application recommendations for the food industry and plays a significant role in R&D and refinement processes. The group operates internationally and has sales offices in Europe, the USA and Mexico.

For Crespel & Deiters, refinement is more than a technological process: it is a commitment to shaping the future and achieving improvements with every solution – for the customer, the market and the environment.
