Giract launches seventeenth round of European flavor research PhD awards

Giract, a Geneva-based market intelligence firm focused on food and beverage ingredients, has opened the seventeenth edition of its European PhD in Flavor Research Awards. Backed by seven industry sponsors—Ajinomoto, Asahi Group Foods, Givaudan, Kerry, Lallemand Bio-Ingredients, Lesaffre, and PepsiCo—the program offers bursaries to first-year doctoral candidates and a thesis prize for final-year students, with applications due by October 30, 2026.

  • Six first-year PhD candidates will each receive a €3,000 bursary, which partly funds a visit to a sponsor company's laboratory during their second year of study.
  • One final-year PhD student will receive a Best Thesis Award worth €5,000 and an invitation to present at the Savory Flavor and Food Industry Conference in Geneva.
  • Eligible applicants must be enrolled at a European university or research institute with projects relevant to flavor science, technology, processing, or chemistry.
  • The program is organized by Giract in coordination with Andrea Cattaruzza of AndCat Ltd and Professor Emeritus Andy Taylor of the University of Nottingham.
