Crespel & Deiters takes stake in German soy supplier VEPRONA
ByEditor
Crespel & Deiters, a German starch and protein ingredient manufacturer, has become a shareholder in VEPRONA GmbH. It joins existing owners farmsaat and L. Stroetmann. VEPRONA sources soy from single-variety, identity-preserved contract farming in Europe. The partners plan to expand its range with functional soy ingredients designed for specific technological properties, nutritional profiles and efficient processing.
“We know exactly which properties our soybean varieties have and that’s where functionality begins. Crespel & Deiters is now contributing its know-how in processing protein raw materials so that, together, we can deliver soy ingredients that are tailored to the needs of our customers and their products.”
—Carolin Bunsen, Managing Director, VEPRONA GmbH
- VEPRONA was founded in 2022 in Everswinkel, in Germany’s Münsterland region. It covers the soy value chain from variety development and contract farming to processing and marketing.
- The company selects soybean varieties by intended application, because each variety affects protein quality, water binding, solubility and processing behavior.
- The joint work focuses on partially defatted, low-fat soy flours with a protein content of up to 57 percent. VEPRONA positions them as an option alongside soy concentrates and isolates for meat products, baked goods and dairy and meat analogues.
- Crespel & Deiters, which began as a wheat processor almost 170 years ago, contributes expertise in protein processing and functionalization.
- VEPRONA will exhibit at the Crespel & Deiters booth at Fi Europe in Frankfurt on November 17–19, 2026.
