VEPRONA partners with Crespel & Deiters and boosts functional ingredients portfolio

VEPRONA partners with Crespel & Deiters and boosts functional ingredients portfolio

Everswinkel (Germany), October 2026 – VEPRONA GmbH, a supplier of soy raw materials from single-variety, identity-preserved cultivation in Europe, has a new shareholder in refinement specialist and ingredient manufacturer Crespel & Deiters, who joins existing owners farmsaat and L. Stroetmann. The partners plan to expand the product range with functional soy ingredients tailored to defined technological properties for an enhanced nutritional profile and efficient processing.

VEPRONA GmbH was founded in 2022 in Everswinkel in the Münsterland region of Germany. The company covers the entire soy value chain, from variety development, single-variety contract farming and harvesting through to the production and marketing of functional soy ingredients. As each variety has a significant impact on protein quality, water binding, solubility and processing behavior, VEPRONA selects the appropriate type based on the intended application.

Partnership goals

The food industry demands raw materials with stable functionality and consistent quality. Short, controlled supply chains and single-variety processing allow VEPRONA to trace the origin and properties of its raw materials throughout the supply chain, thus ensuring consistent quality. With Crespel & Deiters on board, VEPRONA adds to its raw material expertise in technological processing and the production of ingredients with clearly defined properties. This supports end products with an improved nutritional profile, and the promise of optimal consistency, texture and appearance.

“We know exactly which properties our soybean varieties have and that’s where functionality begins. Crespel & Deiters is now contributing its know-how in processing protein raw materials so that, together, we can deliver soy ingredients that are tailored to the needs of our customers and their products,” says Carolin Bunsen, Managing Director of VEPRONA GmbH.

Impressive industry expertise

Each shareholder brings different expertise to the partnership. The L. Stroetmann and farmsaat groups have experience in agricultural and food trading, as well as breeding and propagating arable crops, including soybeans. With almost 170 years of experience, Crespel & Deiters has grown from a wheat processor into a global specialist in the refinement of functional starch and protein ingredients from renewable raw materials. It actively contributes to research and development, as well as protein processing and functionalization.

“Soy is a renewable raw material with a lot of potential. Combined with our in-depth expertise in refinement, we can add value to VEPRONA soy ingredients and make them suitable for a wide range of applications,” says Philipp Deiters, CSO Food at Crespel & Deiters.

Highly versatile

The joint work focuses on partially defatted soy ingredients with a high protein content. Depending on the variety and processing, they are low fat and have a protein content of up to 57 per cent.

“Our soy ingredients are an alternative to concentrates and isolates. Thanks to gentle processing, we offer soy flours with full protein functionality, including binding properties, water solubility and extrudability. This makes them highly versatile in meat and sausage products, baked goods or dairy and meat alternatives,” says Thorben Raasch, R&D Manager at VEPRONA GmbH.

Meet VEPRONA at Fi Europe 2026

VEPRONA will exhibit at Fi Europe in Frankfurt, Germany, from November 17-19, 2026, at the Crespel & Deiters booth 31A20, where visitors can explore its range of soy raw materials and discuss appropriate varieties for specific applications.
