Milan, October 7th, 2026 – Nexture, the global integrated group specializing in the development and manufacturing of high-quality food ingredients and value-added solutions, has published its first Sustainability Report, establishing a common framework for sustainability performance and reporting across the Group.

The report covers the 2025 performance of Nexture and its subsidiaries, bringing together for the first time the sustainability approach of CSM Ingredients, HIFOOD, Italcanditi, Comprital and Prodotti Rubicone[1]. The report establishes a new Group-wide baseline from which Nexture will measure future progress and further integrate sustainability into its strategy, operations and decision-making, as underlined by Gabriele Del Torchio, Chairman of Nexture: “This report builds on years of commitment by CSM Ingredients and Italcanditi, now brought together under one Group framework. I am proud of what our teams have achieved so far, and confident that a shared approach will help us go even further, creating lasting value for all our stakeholders."

"As the CEO of a responsible company and as a mother of four, sustainability is something very close to my heart," said Valerie Diele-Braun, Chief Executive Officer of Nexture. "Today, we are actively building the foundations to reduce our environmental impact, strengthen the resilience of our supply chains and develop ingredient solutions that support a more sustainable food system for our customers, our people and the wider food ecosystem."

Nexture’s sustainability strategy is built around four interconnected pillars – People, Planet, Product and Governance – providing a common framework for how the Group manages its responsibilities, drives innovation and supports the transition towards a more sustainable food system.

Governance: building a common framework for responsible growth

In 2025, Nexture established a common sustainability governance framework across the Group, including a new Sustainability Committee.

ESG due diligence was integrated into supplier onboarding, with Nexture aiming to extend ESG assessments to 100% of new suppliers and expand Sedex monitoring across all Group businesses. In parallel, 74% of cocoa was Rainforest Alliance certified and 67% of palm oil RSPO certified, with a commitment to source 100% of palm oil and derivatives from verified sustainable origins by 2030.

Responsible sourcing is also being translated into specific supply-chain initiatives. In 2025, Italcanditi purchased approximately 20,000 tons of beet sugar, with the Goes manufacturing site in the Netherlands sourcing all of its sugar from Royal Cosun, an agricultural cooperative with around 7,900 grower-members. Through its grower program, the cooperative promotes more sustainable cultivation practices, including improvements in soil and water quality, climate resilience and biodiversity conservation.

Planet: advancing decarbonization and resource efficiency

Nexture’s environmental strategy focuses on reducing the impact of its operations and strengthening long-term resilience, with priorities spanning decarbonization and energy efficiency, resource efficiency and circularity, and the protection of natural ecosystems across its value chain.

In 2025, 94% of Nexture’s electricity was sourced from renewable supplies. The Group also continued investing in energy efficiency, with its Green Zeus program delivering more than €300,000 in annual savings while reducing energy demand across multiple manufacturing sites.

On circularity, zero waste was sent to landfill, with 4,586 tons recycled and 864 tons reused. Nexture also set new packaging targets for 2030, aiming for 90% recyclability, with 45% of packaging made from recycled content and 45% from renewable materials.

Product: turning sustainability into ingredient innovation

Innovation is a key lever of Nexture’s sustainability strategy, supported by a network of 26 development centers, 4 innovation centers and Generate, the Group’s open innovation hub, which works with startups, universities, research organizations and technology partners to accelerate the development of new ingredient solutions. In 2025, Generate selected three startups focused on sustainable fats, circular protein solutions and more resilient alternatives for cocoa.

Nexture also continues to work on expanding its range of Value-Added Solutions, focusing on three innovation pillars: Better for the Planet, including egg replacement, cocoa alternatives and food waste reduction; Better for You, focused on protein and fiber enrichment and sugar reduction; and Superb Eating Experiences, combining taste, texture and product performance.

These priorities are already translating into new solutions and tools. In 2025, Nexture introduced Nuaré, its carob-based cocoa alternative platform, designed to provide a more resilient ingredient option amid volatility in global cocoa supply chains. The Group also launched its Product Carbon Footprinting program: its first assessment showed that Egg ’n Easy Plus, an egg reduction solution for bakery to be used diluted in water, has a carbon footprint of 0.42 kg CO₂e/kg – approximately 90% lower than a typical European liquid barn egg. Around 50 products are planned to be assessed during 2026.

People: nurturing talent and building a shared culture

In 2025, Nexture focused on building a shared culture and a common approach to talent development, wellbeing, diversity and workplace safety. The Group introduced a structured Talent Management Review to strengthen employee development and succession planning.

Women represented approximately 31% of the workforce covered by the 2025 Sustainability Report, while health and safety remained a key priority, with zero work-related fatalities during the year. Through CARE 2.0, Nexture is aligning quality, food safety and workplace safety under a common framework focused on accountability and continuous improvement.

Spotlight on Frulact, one of Nexture’s newest acquisitions

Nexture is also proud of the sustainability progress achieved by Frulact, which joined the Group in 2026, and is therefore not included in the reporting perimeter of Nexture’s 2025 Sustainability Report. In 2025, Frulact recovered 97% of its waste and delivered more than 58,500 hours of employee training, a 41% increase compared with the previous year. The company also continued to strengthen workplace safety, reducing its accident frequency rate to 12, from 27 in 2023. These achievements provide a strong foundation for Frulact’s integration into Nexture’s sustainability journey and future Group reporting.
