Crespel & Deiters launches high-protein plant crisps for snacks and bars
ByEditor
Crespel & Deiters, a sixth-generation German ingredient company, has introduced two extruded plant protein crisps designed for snack, bar, and cereal applications. Lory IsoCrisp Fava Protein delivers 50.5 grams of protein per 100 grams in a 12mm round format suited to chocolate-coated confectionery, while Lory IsoCrisp Wheat Protein offers 65.4 grams of protein per 100 grams in a smaller 4mm format for protein bars, porridge, and muesli. Both products are positioned as soy-free, plant-based alternatives to milk- and whey-based crisps at a time of rising dairy protein costs.
"With the new Lory IsoCrisp Fava and Wheat Protein crisps, we are expanding our portfolio with solutions that combine plant-based and wheat-based protein sources with real functional value for production. It gives manufacturers a highly flexible tool to adapt their products to market demand quickly and without complication."

- The fava-based crisp's smooth, round surface is designed for even coating, which Crespel & Deiters says can reduce costs and support calorie-reduced nutritional profiles in finished products.
- The wheat-based crisp is presented as an alternative for manufacturers facing higher milk protein prices, complementing existing dairy-based crisp ranges.
- According to Innova Market Insights, roughly 60 percent of global consumers say they are actively seeking to increase protein intake without sacrificing taste or texture.
- Crespel & Deiters, headquartered in Ibbenbüren, Germany, employs around 450 people and produces the range using extrusion technology developed through more than 165 years of experience in plant-based raw material refinement.
